We have two upcoming Provisional Trainings.  Saturday August 6th and August 20th.

The training is a required event for all potential new members.  You will learn the history of the JLMC and AJLI.  As well as,  how JLMC is set up with the different committees and what each committee entails. You will learn the requirements as a provisional.  Each provisional will receive a notebook with all the important information about the Junior League to take home with you.
Both events are from 10-2 at Quail Haven Village in the East Community Building. INCLUDES LUNCH.

Quail Haven Village is at 155 Blake Blvd. Pinehurst, NC   When you pull into Quail Haven you will make a right, go around the curb.  Then take your first right.  Go to the very back of the parking lot and the East Community Building will be the last building on the left.

Active members are encouraged to attend as well.

2010afsJunior League of Moore County wrapped up another successful “Academy for Success” on February 27, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Robbins.  In attendance were approximately 60 young ladies who were offered several classes to participate in.

The classes included:

Yoga, taught by Junior league member Tiffany Willis, was a favorite amongst the girls and promoted not only a healthy active lifestyle, but a healthy inner spirit.

Journaling, taught by Antoinette Mann – author of the book “From the Attic to the Alter” a true story of her life struggles and triumphs – was very informative and allowed the girls to see that they can choose their path in life no matter the obstacles.  Ms. Mann was kind enough to leave all of the girls a signed copy of her book.

Art, with Mary Ellen Warren – a local artist and art teacher – was an extremely creative and fun class.

Cooking/healthy eating with Chef Jack Hill was a blast. The girls learned to cook healthy meals that did not require a lot of time, preparation, or assistance.  He showed us all how we can cook healthy foods that taste great!

Both Sides of Beauty, taught by Michelle Yow, focused on the importance of inner beauty and taking care of yourself.

College Knowledge, taught by Tricia Donadio, was a very helpful and informative class which introduced the girls to college life and gave them ideas to get on the right track now so that they are prepared for college in the future.

While we all enjoyed lunch donated by St. Joseph of the Pines, Tracy Land presented her S.T.R.O.N.G. program.  Tracy’s energetic session was well received by the young ladies. The S.T.R.O.N.G. presentation focuses on:

(Safety, Take Action, Respect, Objectives, Nurture, Go Get’em Girls)

  • Helping girls map their destiny.
  • Evaluating where they are now and where they want to go in life.
  • Identifying what obstacles they may face and how to overcome them.
  • Choosing good role models in order to stay on the right path.
  • Staying safe in order to reach their goals.
  • Taking Action in life so they can plan their own destiny.
  • Respecting themselves and surrounding themselves with people that they respect.
  • Setting objectives that help them in reaching their goals.
  • Nurturing the mind, body, spirit and soul.

Tracy helped the girls realize that they can all be “the person that they want to be.” The girls were so excited after the presentation that they broke into a cheer of “Tracy rocks the house!”

This year’s spring Academy for Success was a hit! Everyone’s involvement allowed for a wonderful learning experience.  The girls were given awesome SWAG bags filled with items that related to the presentations and the classes they participated in, which help to incorporate what they learned from the day into their lives.  Many thanks go out to the members of the community committee and our sponsors that made this event possible.
